dystopia and fiction

just finished re-reading orwell's 1984. it still is just as touching and stimulating. i'm sure all of us have read it once. i highly recommend reading it again.

talking of which - which other dystopian fiction do you guys like?

ray bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" was another great read, and truffaut's adaptation of it was brilliant too. i heard there's a new one coming out soon. among movies, terry gilliam's Brazil was great too. anthony burgess's Clockwork Orange, in my opinion, was better in Kubrick's adaptation, though i am sure many would disagree.

One story that i particularly remember is Ursula K LeGuinn's "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas", a sharp criticism of utilitarianism (and what better way to destory it than by fiction).

other names elude me right now... so reminders everyone?
