As Sri Lanka finds form after a long time, convincingly defeating both South Africa and Australia, and India and Pakistan play what looks like another drawn test, the loadshedding hours in Kathmandu have been extended from 3.5 hours a week to 17. The shedding has come into effect starting this week, and will have varying times – from morning to night – each day of the week. (Note to Gyanu – we are running low on candles, and might soon run out of gas too.)
On another front, darkness also reigns the streets of Kathmandu where god knows how many protestors have been imprisoned. The official count is about 300, but the parties assert the number is much higher. Girija’s house-arrest has been lifted, but UML’s Madhav Nepal is still under. Other leaders remain in jail, probably for the next 90 days. This includes human rights activists, the yellow attired Krishna Pahadi among them.
I see darkness ahead.
